He is the only coach that has conquered all there is to conquer. In other words, the only person who has a gold medal from every single international and national competition that exists in European basketball.
The World Championship in the home of the Dream Team, the only German European gold, the club European championship with Bosna as a player and with Barcelona as a coach, the placement of Alba Berlin on the Basketball map, his life lessons, energy, dedication and principles are only some the things that are portrayed in this film.
The film Svetislav Pešić – More Than a Coach is a project with a seemingly simple structure, featuring a linear dramatic flow. However, the fact that the film’s form was created by editing over 6 terabytes of raw footage speaks volumes about the complexity of this project.
A major challenge in post-production, aside from synthesizing such a vast amount of material, was also the adaptation of various formats used within the film’s structure—ranging from online content, TV station archives, and private collections. Everything had to be unified into a broadcast format to ensure a seamless viewing experience, without significant discrepancies in video quality.
One of the key challenges was of a scriptwriting nature. It required carefully selecting archival footage and aligning it with the chronological testimonies and statements of those who witnessed the remarkable success of Svetislav Pešić.
In the final stage of post-production, color correction posed its own challenges, with a clear goal of balancing the color values across diverse types of footage. Especially notable is the audio mix, done by Panina Studio from Novi Sad, which plays a crucial role in clearly conveying the relationship between music and archival sound effects that frequently appear throughout the film.
In the end, all directorial and script demands were met, resulting in an outstanding and visually striking cinematic achievement.
The film, produced by Intermedianetwork, is a personal and professional story about one of the most successful European basketball coaches—Svetislav Pešić. What makes Pešić a true winner is revealed by some of the most renowned players, coaches, and global sports leaders who have worked with him, as well as by those closest to him.
The film was shot in Barcelona, Munich, Berlin, Belgrade, and Pirot, tracing Pešić’s key achievements and uncovering the secret behind the success of the famous basketball coach—a former European and World Champion with the Yugoslav national team. It follows his journey from his hometown of Pirot to Munich, where he is currently the head coach of Bayern.
The documentary features around twenty prominent figures from the world of sports, including Aleksandar Đorđević, Vlade Divac, Dejan Bodiroga, Juan Carlos Navarro, Josep “Pep” Guardiola, Josep Maria Bartomeu, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Žarko Zečević, Žarko Varajić, Henning Harnisch, Henrik Rödl.
A special touch is added by members of Svetislav Pešić’s family, who enrich the story and indirectly affirm why he is considered “more than a coach.”
